Say F&%@k You to Fear

A few days ago I was doing a Lifestream with my private FB community and the topic was on fear, I had a decent response to that video. I wanted to replay it in words for those not a member of my private group. Fear is a big thing, we all are afraid of something in life, I know that for me I fear(d) driving to downtown Pittsburgh for years. I would do everything in my power to have to avoid driving there by myself. Over the years I have taught myself to not have that fear anymore, to stop letting a belief hold me back in my life.

Fear's are fear, Fear's are things, fear is just a belief that something is gong to cause pain or hurt to you. I created a list of things to do to help eliminate your fear.

1. Awareness- The first key to overcoming fear is to be aware of the fear.

2. Identify- I want you to get specific about exactly what your afraid of. Look at pictures in your head about the situation. What is happening in them? What are you really scared of? You are basically observing your inner space

3. Curiosity- Get curious about what thoughts generate your fears, where do you feel the fear? How do you react?

4. Action- Fears are just fears. They are created my imagination to make reality seem scarier than it is. When we take action and face our fears, they come weaker.

5. Gratitude- I like to keep a gratitude challenge going in my private community on FB There is something about putting on paper things you are grateful for, it helps fade your focus on fear or other negative habits that bond you.

6. Sedona Method- This is a simple technique that ask questions targeting your fear. When I first started researching this and when I first practiced the method, I quickly dismissed it because it was so simple. But indeed, it is a wonderful method that i know teach to my clients.

7. Talk- How often do we hold negative feelings or thoughts in because we are afraid of how others might react. But, my friend that is not good at all, you have to vent sooner then later before you explode. That is why there are people like myself, therapist, doctors, or friends. Use one of them to cry on when you need to, it is okay. life is stressful. Take a cry break.

Those are my top steps I recommend my coaching clients to use to over come fear. You don't have to be afraid to do something for the rest of your life, how silly is that. So as I mentioned before, I was afraid to go downtown Pittsburgh. Imagine if I never got over that fear, I would of never been able to go spend time with my friends who live down there. I wouldn't of meet the love of my life, at the casino, I was there alone. I wouldn't of been able to make it to the hospital to deliver my daughter if I had to drive myself! I really was putting my happiness into a belief that something horrible was going to happen to me when I travled 15 minutes away from home. The funny thing is, that something horrible could of happened to me right here in my own town. Fear is a major factor on the majority of people in the world, many of us won't try anything new, becasue of that fear. I personally didn't want to live like that, there are to many places to travel in this world and I only have 1 life and I am not promissed tomorrow so I want to live now, no moment wasted.
